The UDIA National Housing Pipeline® (NHP) is a comprehensive analysis of true developable land capacity and the major barriers to new housing supply across Australia’s key housing regions.
The NHP is a major UDIA National research and policy development initiative that has evolved from an initial Pilot research project conducted in Perth across 2022/23, which was then followed by a National Pilot in 2024.
In a nutshell the NHP provides:
- An annual snapshot of land availability and land readiness for residential development across Australia’s major housing markets.
- A detailed assessment of development constraints and development challenges to delivering new residential supply by local government area & sub-region across each major capital city region.
- A development industry ‘vetted’ quantification of the forward 10-year pipeline of land supply and residential dwellings by location and dwelling type and tenure.
- Unique insights on the status of planning, development and environmental approvals, as well as the status of enabling infrastructure requirements for realising forward supply.
- The most robust and timely annual national assessment of ‘real’ stocks of land supply and health of new dwelling supply pipelines – as measured against State and Federal Government housing targets.
